Airfreight Newsletter
Air cargo volumes returned to pre-Covid levels in January with demand even increasing on some lanes compared with 2019 levels for the month. For Australia, the market is stabile at the moment without any backlogs or major delays although capacity is still tight on many inbound lanes. The biggest news for Australia the past 2 weeks is an extension of the IFAM program.
IFAM stands for International Freight Adjustment Mechanism which is a targeted support measure implemented by the Australian government in Q2/2020. The program assists Australian agriculture and perishable exporters by bridging the cost gap for airfreight compared to pre-covid levels. The program was supposed to finish on June 30, 2021 but has now been extended by another 3 months.
